Tim Browne: Birch Clump Village Reader 7

Joshua (Tim) Seidl • Jan 30, 2017

Published January 2017

Just released: My latest in a series of readers. Each book contains short stories (mostly fiction), some poetry, and plenty of illustrations.
Tim Browne is an ordinary fellow from a white working class family, Christian. However, a rumor that he might be Jewish makes him the target of bigoted bullies in school and again as a young adult. He suddenly learns how the threat of violence constantly follows young minority men. His upbringing did not prepare him for what was ahead.

Publishing Status as of January 29, 2017:

Proofs are expected to arrive Monday, the 30th of January. It will be about a week before my editor and I can review the finished product. If all is well, I will then press the approval button and the book is available instantly on Lulu.com, and will begin showing up on other major book seller's sites such as Amazon and Barnes and Nobles.

Paper Back and E-book options:

My books always come out as paper back first. I begin preparing an e-book version soon after.

The threat of violence is constant for young minority men

Imagine:

The parents answer the phone late at night, or in the early dawn hour. Their son (or daughter) has been arrested. Another young man or woman is in the emergency room, severely injured by their child. It was a rash act of racial or religious hate violence. Money for a lawyer swiftly drains the college fund.
Several more charges are pending. Should the victim die, murder could be added to those charges.
Their child was a good child. How did this happen?
The talk of religious and racial hate is all around us. Perhaps in the home, just small things, maybe. Certainly it is heard in public, in schools, on the street, among friends, neighbors or relatives, in the schools and even in Churches and other places of worship. Even in a home that does not promote racism or religious biases, any apathy might have been taken as approval.
And lets not ignore the victims and their families. Tim Browne is one such victim.

My blogs and our Birch Clump Village E-News letters are making a come back after about a year's absence on my part. So sign up on our contact page if you are nor already a subscriber. A lot of exciting changes challenged my time to keep the blog, web site and new letters going these past several months. For one, I am now the Community Superior for my monastery. We have a newly renovated book and gift store that I attend to. My latest book, I hope, will be coming out before the end of this year (2019). The photo is of me inserted into a class room similar to the ones I once attended for grade school.

There are over 150 plants in Brother Joshua's garden. Most are herbs and flowers. He also grows gourds and a few vegetables. You may contact him via the website "contact us" page if you are interested in his Sweet Annie & Mug wort sachets. Sweet aroma, this mixture also dispels spiders and mosquitoes. Pictured here are muslin bags containing three sachets each for only $6.95 + shipping (USPS only within the USA)
