2-15-2008 The Cure
This is the short story written by Bro. Joshua
in or around 1999 that laid the ground work for the novel, "Hawk Dancer." It makes for a great Christmas tradition
and can be enjoyed any time of the year. The setting is in Michigan's Upper Peninsula. (By the way, this clip is about the longest time
frame permitted on this site. You can well imagin having to listen to too much talking . . .) [Bro. Joshua] 00:24:36
Shorter Audio clips
are in this column Generally under 12 minutes

03-17-2008 The Mirror
A poem to an Elder whose name I never knew. - [Bro. Joshua] 00:05:00
2-15-2008 A Drum song
Bima'amaazo injichaag - a song for the soul. -- Music only -- Recorded by Brother Joshua - 00:05:05
2-15-2008 "Tea"
- Tea is a shorter short story. Audio only - no accompaning text yet.
Its about a younger teen in mid 1960's spending some vaction time with the Grandmothers. He delights in their wisdom, their honesty,
as much as in their sometimes little gossipy and put on ways. "Mildren does put out a nice laundry."
-- Story and recording by Bro. Joshua 00:09:29
2-16-2008 Waabanong Run This is an honoring poem written some months after the actual Waabonong Run
from the shores of Lake Superior to Washington DC in 1998. This year, 2008, is the 10th anniversary. Interestingly, this is also the 30th anniversay
of the passage of the American Indian Freedom of Religion Law. I often think of the many Native American Veterans who served this country protecting
the religious freedoms of other Americans that Native Americans did not have up until August 11, 1978.The Waabonong Runners made a powerful prayer stand
because of the passage of this Religious Freedom Law, as they marched and prayed for a treaty solution before the United States Supreme Court. The
treatuy was upheld. [Bro. Joshua] 00:06:27
2-17-2008 Inculturation
"Inculturation & Indigenous Concerns -- Where Do We Stand Today?" Inculturation is the possitive opposite of assimilation. The word was coinded
in the 1920's, but has had slow growth in the churches.
Inculturation promotes indigenous culture with in the Churches and surrounding society. It is not,
as is the case with assimilation - the repression of Native cultures. [Bro. Joshua] 00:06:36
2-24-08 Elect Grandmother
These are some thought about this election year. It is not a political speach, but simply and endorsement of gratitude to the Earth. [Bro. Joshua]
