NEW. Catholic Fiction Author listing
Other Authors. As of February 27, 2012: My newset web feature lists Catholic Fiction Authors and their books. Find out how to list your book on this site. Search for books to read.

Creative Writers' Guide
For aspiring authors writing from a moral conscience.

37. Novelist's Conscience, Writers Guide
WRITERS GUIDE. Part One. A novel or fictional short story does not have to be about religion to be considered a book of religious and family value. Around seven family value oriented lessons for new authors. + Four short stories

38. Authors and Moral Responsibility
WRITERS RESPONCIBILITY. Christian writers can write about moral dilemma, drink, violence, immoral behavior. The Bible presents these things. It is how the sensitive subjects are presented that makes the difference.

39. Writing to Get Published
GET PUBLISHED. Lots of Christian fiction has what I think are unrealistically good main characters, flawless people. Scenes and characters are honey sticky sweet. I suggest you beat up on your characters a bit. Aim for realistic, even in fiction.

40. Modern Writer Programs and Soft Ware
MODERN MEANS. A book poorly written will not sell. Spell cheque is not enough. Text to voice readers and writing software for novels are modern aides even for experienced authors. Nothing replaces your best effort.

41. Look It Up
CHECK FACTS. Don't assume now and be embarrassed later. Do lots of research on occupations, histories, and cultures you are not part of. Know facts about careers, and skills. What do cops and monks really do?

42. Grooming One's Writing Style
SPRUCE IT UP. Constantly work on your style. Keep your audience in mind as you write. Think of tag words and unique phrases that pull people in. Note things, people, events and research you want to work in.

43. Why I Write
PURPOSE. The author, Joshua Seidl, discusses why he writes. The search, pitfalls and successes of getting published are shared. Why he switched from Publish America to self publish with Lulu is also presented.

44. Catholic Fiction Writers
CATHOLIC NOVELS. Material should not be disparaging to the faith. Catholic fiction enjoys a wide range of possibilities. Characters in the story might be irreligious, but the author's presentation shows fidelity.

What Are These Two Fighting About?

Jig and Amos are simply testing their strength in 1968.
Jig Rajan (age 15-1/2 or 16) and his family just moved to the USA from Suriname and are temporarily staying in Powers, Michigan, August 1969. He meets up with Kid and Jay Mott, who in turn introduce him to Amos Crow, age 17. The challenge of a best of two out of three wrestling match is an amiable sport for the two teens. A brief mention of this test of "who can take who" is in Peanut Butter & Pickle Pie, my third issue of the Birch clump Village reader released in February 2013. (Amos is in the light colored jeans under Jig.)
Round 1: Amos swiftly pins Jig.
Round 2: Greater effort and more time is needed, but Jig pins Amos.
Round 3: I'm not going to give away the spoiler. However, this third round will be decisive. It gets vicious, though it remains a friendly game.

A more detailed account will follow in my 4th BC Village Reader, yet to be titled and published.

Up Coming Stories

Jig Rajan Jig and his friend Danny try their hand at undercover work to expose employers who take unfair advantage of migrant workers. When a wealthy farmer finds out, he summons a couple of his hired field supervisors to confront Jig. His thoughts on how to spy on the rich and powerful came from TV shows. Reality sets in when he sees the men armed with clubs and rope and he has no place to run.

"Fishing Hole" part three - - The mystery of what happened to Amos Crow unfolds. Not everything is solved, but readers of the first two parts will finally know if Amos is alive or not . . . and what actually happened to him out at the fishing hole. The "who" of who dun-it? . . . wait and see.

A special Christmas book is being prepared. It's a bit early to be talking Christmas stocking stuffers; but us authors, artists and musicians have to start gearing up not to get things ready.
