The exhibits operate as an extension of our Staten Island based Alba House Book Store, a retail operation, and therefore we are obligated to charge sales tax.

Our Catholic publishing house is called “ST PAULS.” We retired the former Alba House publishing mark several years ago.

Dates that are available/booked/blocked

Please contact us early for those seasons. We fill up quick for prime time. Our calendar extends the rest of this year and for the whole of next year; so, don’t hesitate to set up a couple of appointments with us, such as for Lent and Advent (and some pastors prefer a week or two before those seasons).

Books In English

No Major Holidays, Please.

Our experiences have prompted us to no longer take bookings for major holiday weekends such as: Thanksgiving, Mothers Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Palm Sunday or Easter Sunday. We are also not available for Parish Exhibits from December 23 through the first full week of January, and from about mid-June until after Labor Day. It is also advisable not to book the same weekend your parish has First Communion or parish festivals.

Indoor Exhibits Only

I’m repeating this twice on this page. We simply cannot set an exhibit up outdoors. Mist, blowing rain, and even modest humidity on a sunny day will ruin our books, even under open shelters. (And never mind under trees – birds perch in trees if you catch my drift). Flowers, Christmas wreaths and trees and raffle tickets do OK out doors in a wide range of weather conditions, but a massive book exhibit does not. There are numerous other reasons why we cannot set up outdoors.

Our Needs
for setting up an exhibit

     We request an area that can accommodate a minimum of two eight foot long cafeteria tables or the equivalent in space using smaller tables. Most parishes provide tables, but let us know in advance if we need to bring our own tables. Our average exhibit uses three to four tables and we can easily accommodate large displays of up to eight tables.
     Size and location are sometimes tricky trade offs in determining what will be the most effective at your parish. Some parish halls, such as school cafeterias are in low traffic areas or difficult for parishioners to see or access. Some vestibules are simply too small.
     We have been invited on rare occasions to set up outdoors. We regrettably cannot set an exhibit up outdoors due to a number of factors.

Promotion

     We appreciate it if you can have an announcement in your parish bulletin a week in advance of our exhibit. I can also send out information for other departments within your parish complex, such as the DRE and other staff members who might be able to inform their organizations about the opportunities afforded by a Parish Book Exhibit if I am alerted to their names. (I can look up some of this on line if you have a parish web site).
     The success of our media ministry at your parish will naturally reflect in the 10% gratuity we offer from the sales as more families are clued in to watch for and visit the book exhibit.

The parish can save shipping and handling by having us deliever the order when we come with an exhibit. You might like to order Bibles, study aides, or materials related to classes and programs hosted by your parish. Please call early to ensure a sufficient supply.

Sample Bulletin Announcement

     Catholic Book Exhibit and Sale:
     The Priests and Brothers of the Society of St. Paul will set up their traveling ST PAULS Parish Book Exhibit at our parish [insert appropriate info: next week, or dates]. Please visit the Book Exhibit [insert location] after all Saturday evening and the Sunday Masses through the [insert latest morning Mass or mass of early after noon].
     They have books and religious articles for all ages. ST PAULS gladly accepts cash and all major credit cards and personal checks.
